Live Audio Performance: Listen Above

In a collaboration between The Greene Space and the Yorinks Theater Group, Arthur Yorinks, writer and director, has extracted the title character from The Invisible Man, the novella by H.G. Wells, and has written a searing hybrid of naturalistic drama and stark surrealism.

A collage of sound, live voices and sound effects was joined by a never-before-heard original piano score composed and improvised by Michael Riesman, director of the Philip Glass Ensemble, in a rare live musical performance. Lighting, video and conceptual design were by Mark Stanley, resident lighting designer for The New York City Ballet.

The Invisible Man is played by Rocco Sisto and the cast includes: Teagle F. Bougere, Arthur French, Dion Graham, Nikki Hislop, Karen Kandel, Steven Rattazzi

With special cameo appearance by Terrance McKnight

Original music composed and performed by Michael Riesman

Conceptual design, lighting, and projections by Mark Stanley

Written and directed by Arthur Yorinks

A New Theater of Sound

The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, in collaboration with Yorinks Theater Group, presents A New Theater of Sound with the aim to achieve a live, online and on air conversation driven by great theatrical work with sound at its core.

Our initiative as well as our goal for this site is to cast a view on the historical landscape of audio theater and ensue a dialogue about the genre to inspire, redefine, energize, and help blossom again what was once a fertile theatrical field in America.
