I thought Brown Rice family were the most entertaining with a great vibe and message. They brought the house down! LIked Lo Frequency and Spanish Fly too - but hope there are more latin bands in the competition, 'cause it would be sad if there were only one for all of NYC! Good luck!

Saw this event live and direct... Brown rice family is the band that did it for me and had everyone smiling and grooving .They were really original, creative and so brilliant at fusing different sounds. The Jamaican singer/dancer had amazing style and dance moves! They were just a unique and extraordinary band. I wish it were the judges and people in the house who got to vote, BRF would have been the winner, then. Keep up the good work BRF America need to hear you especially in times like these. Your message is super relevant in these turbulent times that we are living in.You guys seem to be tuned in to the right vibration. I know all the other twelve bands saw your performance and i'm sure they would agree to the fact that you guys were electric! Check out their album...it's great!!

I have a hunch people unfamiliar with these bands are getting confused by the terrible HTML on this page, i.e. band names are on top of video, yet are equally spaced with the video below. Anyway, Lo Frequency had the most interesting performance to watch and listen to. And they didn't dress in colonial era outfits (wtf?).

It was a beautiful night of music at the Greene Space. I can't believe posters are ragging on some of the bands that made it. I guess haters are gonna hate. My own vote is for Spanglish Fly, but much respect to all the artists who represented Brooklyn!

Spanglish Fly was super good to watch and hear. The music is authentic, rhythmic, and spirited. The music makes you feel good and inspires you to sing and move with the beat. The lead singer has more movements than a performing ballet dancer combined with one doing flamingo and salsa all at once. The rhythm section is without doubt the very best in the world.

Not sure that all of those bands deserve to be in the top 5 - there was a lot of talent on that stage Friday night, and some of the bands up here are now are like, really? But Brown RIce Family blew my mind, loved it from beginning to end!!!! hope they win.

Really enjoyed the Lo Frequency and the Brown Rice Family - gonna be tough to choose between those two! Also surprised to see Underground System Afrobeat didn't make the top five and agree with the other poster who thought that if they had been closer to the end of the evening they would have made it through. Still a great band though.

Underground System Afrobeat was great and should have been in! If they had gone closer to voting in the night they would've been in a heartbeat. They're doing something real deep too (some real diversity and authenticity of sound the commentators mentioned they were looking for).

It's really to bad that "Underground System Afrobeat" did not make the cut. They were hot! And so MUUUUUCH! better than some of the other bands. But one big question - How in the world did "Spanglish Fly" made the cut? I JUST don't get it. C'mon, Really? That band? Whaaaat?
