TGIF, let down your hair, sip a complimentary drink and mingle with New York City's hippest crowds as WNYC takes to the street--the street level, glass facade of The Greene Space, that is.
For this party, we bring you composer/cellist/trombonist Dana Leong, who will collaborate with artists from his latest recording/performance series Life After Dark, which was commissioned by and originally premiered at the Apollo in April 2009. It is an ongoing series of "crossover" collaborations he does with a variety of musicians, ranging from harmonica to beatboxers to tap dancers. In this installment of Life After Dark, Dana Leong will perform with Haitian turntablist Val-Inc, Japanese koto extraordinaire Yumi Kurosawa and Afro-Cuban tap pioneer Max Pollak.
Sharing the mic with our musical guest will be our New York City public. For 85 years WNYC has come into your home and you've heard us, now come into our home--The Greene Space--and let us hear you. It's Open Mic Night at The Greene Space.
Student rush tickets will be sold as cash only 2 hours prior to the event. No one under 21 will be served alcohol.
