Overview

On Sunday, November 8, John Schaefer, the creator of the esteemed annual New Sounds Live concert series, will host the American Premiere of  David Lang’s choral version of The Little Match Girl Passion, performed by the New York Virtuoso Singers, conducted by Harold Rosenbaum. The work, based on the the story by the Danish author Hans Christian Anderson, is the recipient of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Music. Additionally, Lux Aeterna, a piece for 16 solo singers written by Gyorgy Ligeti in 1966 and famous for its use in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey will also be performed. The evening is part of the Greene Space’s New Sounds Live program. The program will be broadcast live on 93.9 FM and recorded for a later broadcast on New Sounds.
