Russia has given the classical world many gifts, but perhaps the greatest is an unrivaled repertoire for the piano. The music is romantic, demanding and suffused with the passion of the Slavic soul.

Watch live! The show is sold out, but you can watch our live video webcast below at 7pm:

The Great Russian Piano Tradition is a new radio series dedicated to Russian composers and performers, and in this companion event, scholar David Dubal traces the history of piano music in Russia with a special focus on the four pillars of the Russian piano literature: Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Scriabin.

A longtime favorite of WQXR's audiences, Dubal is an acknowledged authority on the piano, and his insights and observations are celebrated around the world.

Join us for a very special event celebrating the mighty Russian piano tradition, featuring performances by the exceptionally accomplished young pianists Bang-Shyan Chen, Rexa Han, Giuseppe Mentuccia, Dmitri Shelest, and Jun Sun.
