Theater of War Productions: The Dionysus Project

Presented by Theater of War Productions and The Greene Space at WNYC

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

7:00 PM

Join us for a dramatic theatrical reading of Euripides’ Bacchae, a play about the arrival of Dionysus, the Classical Greek god of intoxication and ecstasy.

Featuring actors Peter Francis James, Josh Hamilton, Kathleen Chalfant and Bryce Pinkham.

This is a project of Theater of War Productions, which presents community-specific, theater-based projects that address pressing public health and social issues.

A conversation about the opioid crisis and the impact of substance abuse and addiction on individuals, families and communities will follow the performance.

Free Monthly Performances

This is part of a six-event partnership between Theater of War Productions and The Greene Space at WNYC to present free monthly readings through June 2018 by notable actors. The performances will spark conversations around public health and social issues such as gun violence, war, mental health, incarceration, the failure of the legal system and substance abuse.

These projects are led by artistic director Bryan Doerries, now in his second year as New York City Public Artist in Residence with the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and Department of Veterans’ Services. During this two-year residency, he will bring more than 60 such productions to diverse communities across all five boroughs.
