New Sounds Presents 2017 New York Guitar Festival

Building on last year’s sold-out event, the New York Guitar Festival and WNYC’s New Sounds present a four-week series that features a diverse cast of guitar slingers performing newly commissioned works and special collaborations. 

The festival will take over The Greene Space stage every Thursday evening, from May 18 to June 8, featuring multiple short sets and onstage interviews with New Sounds host John Schaefer.

Featuring sharp-edged indie rocker Margaret Glaspy and Julian Lage, one of the most formidable jazz guitarists of his generation. The highlight of this event is likely to be the two guitarists performing a set of works together.


 

June 1 at 7pm
$15 

 

Indie rocker Trixie Whitley and guitarist-composer Marc Ribot take to the stage together to represent a range of musical worlds.


  

June 8 at 7pm
$15

 

The series wraps with an evening of performances by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, singer-songwriter Steve Gunn and Grammy Award-winning folk artist Dom Flemons.
