Beer 101: Ed Berestecki of Mug's Ale House schools us on the basics of the brew

Friday, July 12, 2013

For the fifth year in a row, Mayor Michael Bloomberg has proclaimed July Good Beer Month in New York City - a 30-day toast to the city's best beers and the bars that serve them.

Here at The Greene Space, we're celebrating with our annual Craft Beer Jam, three Wednesday nights of beer-focused conversation and consumption.

But let's be honest: beer culture can be intimidating, especially for the uninitiated. So we asked Ed Berestecki of Brooklyn’s Mug's Ale House to break down the beer basics for us - bitter vs. sweet, lager vs. ale, and the all important question of how to avoid a beer gut.

Watch below, and then check out more video of Ed and our panelists talking The Best Beers You've Never Tasted
