VIDEO | Poet Sonia Sanchez on August Wilson

Groundbreaking poet and playwright Sonia Sanchez opened The Greene Space's reading of "The Piano Lesson" on Sept. 9, 2013 with her reflections on playwright August Wilson and his legacy.

"[Wilson] heard the sacred in all of our footprints," Sanchez said, "as he reset the identity of African-Americans on the world's stage from tragedy and neglect and prejudice to the heroic celebration of themselves."
