From Ferguson to Chicago, recent high-profile cases of police abuse and racial profiling have sparked waves of protests and captured headlines. But generations of African-American men know these injustices far too well, their personal stories and stinging experiences passed down as a contemptible legacy.
A new reimagined production directed by Tony-Award nominee Stephen McKinley Henderson is giving voice to the stories of 12 everyday men from diverse walks of life — all of whom have been subjected to racial profiling. Based on the 2012 book, “12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today,” the production is poised for a national tour and is currently in an extended sold-out run at The Kumble Theater, presented by The Billie Holiday Theatre at The Center for Arts & Culture of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.
