Projections: LGBT Life on Film
Parting Glances
It’s a Leonard Lopate Show Projections film screening! Join us and your fellow WNYC listeners for a special screening of Bill Sherwood’s 1986 film “Parting Glances.” Set in mid-80’s Manhattan, the film is a realistic depiction of gay life in the period and stars Steve Buscemi in one of his first roles. Singled out for historical preservation, “Parting Glances” not only presents gay relationships as part of a larger social fabric, but was also one of the first films to deal seriously and compassionately with the HIV-AIDS pandemic.
