In the second installment of their residency, The Mash-Up Americans will sit down with Jaeki Cho, the face of Righteous Eats, and League of Kitchens founder Lisa Kyung Gross to rethink American food, explore what makes an item “ethnic,” examine what hospitality means, and create the culture of the future, starting with what’s on our plates.
Tickets include access to a League of Kitchens “mash-up” market featuring a spice demo from Burlap & Barrel, beer tastings with Harlem Blue, hot dogs from Chaat Dog, rice dishes from Teranga, and bites from Uzbekistan and Indonesia!

The Mash-Up Americans is your guide to hyphen-America. They’re rooted in tradition, looking to the future, and creating culture each day they live it.
Founded in 2013 by Amy S. Choi and Rebecca Lehrer, The Mash-Up Americans is a media company and boutique creative studio. They host their eponymous podcast and understand and connect to the dynamic, diverse, modern American audience. They produce chart-topping podcasts for everyone from HBO, Reese Witherspoon, and Rainn Wilson to The National Domestic Workers Alliance.
“Everything we do reflects the kaleidoscope of the Mash-Up American experience and, at its core, pursues key questions: How do we define our identity? Who are the Mash-Up leaders, makers, doers and thinkers we need to know now? What are the issues keeping us up at night? What is the new culture that Mash-Ups are creating? And finally, how do we tell stories that help shape the future we want?”

Jaeki Cho is the co-founder of Righteous Eats, a platform that highlights eateries based in New York City that are owned and operated by POCs, immigrants, and mom and pop businesses.
Cho’s insight on culture has been quoted on FORBES, New York Magazine, MSNBC, and The New York Times. He co-produced the feature documentary Bad Rap, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. He’s the co-owner of lifestyle boutique Alumni. Before his pursuit in fashion retail, he was a music journalist, writing for Complex, VIBE, Billboard, and working as an editor for XXL.
Lisa Kyung Gross
Lisa Kyung Gross is the founder/CEO of the League of Kitchens, a unique culturally immersive cooking experience in NYC and online where immigrant women, who are exceptional home cooks, teach their family recipes. The LoK has been featured in Food and Wine Magazine, New York Magazine, the New York Times, Saveur, Oprah Magazine, and on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, among others. Saveur recently called it “The multicultural cooking school you’ve been waiting for.”
She received her MFA in participatory public art and social practice from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University and has a B.A. from Yale University.
