Overview

Anna Sale knows all about having hard conversations. On the podcast Death, Sex & Money, she asks her guests probing, in-depth questions about the things we all grapple with in life: Relationships. Finances. Mental health. Grief. Identity.

In her new book, Let’s Talk About Hard Things, Anna interviews people about the pivotal conversations that helped them through their most challenging moments. She consults experts on the best way to approach these conversations. And she shares what she’s learned in her own life as she moved through divorce, remarriage, and into early parenthood.

Join NPR’s Noel King as she interviews Anna about her new book, and about all that can be gained from more courageous, open and direct conversations.

Noel King is a host of Morning Edition and NPR’s news podcast Up First. Since joining Morning Edition in 2018, she has hosted the show from locations across the country.

Previously, as a correspondent at Planet Money, Noel’s reporting centered on economic questions that don’t have simple answers. Her stories have explored what is owed to victims of police brutality who were coerced into false confessions, how institutions that benefited from slavery are atoning to the descendants of enslaved Americans, and why a giant Chinese conglomerate invested millions of dollars in her small, rural hometown. Her favorite part of the job is finding complex, and often conflicted, people at the center of these stories.
