Overview

For almost 50 years, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe has been a vanguard in the world of spoken word poetry and an iconic Lower East Side institution. Now, they join forces with The Greene Space to present a showcase of performers, both established and up-and-coming. This show, hosted by poet/actor J.F. Seary, brings together poetry, stories and solo work.

Featuring performances by Joanna Hoffman, Suzen Baraka, Tahani Salah, Allison Hicks, Gabriel Ramirez, Ryan Victor Pierce, Ishmael Reed, and Caridad de la Luz.

J. F. Seary is a Nuyorican poet and actor who has toured nationally and internationally – through NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Juan, London and Seoul. She has performed in King Lear, Is there Room in your Heart, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Vivisection, Soledad Speaks, Of Mothers and Men and HerStory. In NYC, she has performed at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, the Bowery Poetry Club and Le Poisson Rouge. She has also toured colleges across the U.S. with her solo poetry show, and taught English and Drama for Monroe College, John Jay College and BMCC for 13 years. J.F. Seary is currently writing for the web-series The New York Effect and was recently cast in two plays: Is There Such a Thing as Love and Twelfth Night.
