Overview

Watch an encore video stream as we revisit this thrilling evening of performance and conversation with musician Dessa, the Argus Quartet and Grammy-nominated vocalist Matthew Santos. WNYC’s John Schaefer hosted.

Last year, Dessa (who cut her teeth as a rapper in the Doomtree crew) recorded a live album with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra called Sound the Bells: Recorded Live at Orchestra Hall. She came to The Greene Space for this special event to explore the unlikely friendship she forged with the world class-symphonic orchestra. Recorded in November 2019, the show features moving string arrangements, writerly lyrics, funny stories and a chance to see the gears turning on an unusual creative process.

Watch the live video stream on this page at 1pm ET:

The Spirio by Steinway & Sons is the official piano of The Greene Space.
