Music Break: Revisit Richard Tucker Award Winner Nadine Sierra

Originally Aired: Monday, June 1, 2020

Nadine Sierra

Overview

Watch an encore video stream as we revisit WQXR’s 2017 concert featuring soprano Nadine Sierra, that year’s Richard Tucker Award winner.

A preview to the Richard Tucker Gala at Carnegie Hall that year, the evening also featured special guest Alan Gilbert, with performances by Richard Tucker Career Grant recipients soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen (2014 winner), and baritone Anthony Clark Evans (2017 winner). Pianist Brian Zeger, artistic director of Juilliard’s Vocal Arts, accompanied. Hosted by Nimet Habachy.

The Richard Tucker Award has been granted to an American singer poised on the edge of a major national and international career, with a list of winners that reads like a who’s who of American opera stars, including Renée Fleming, Stephanie Blythe, Lawrence Brownlee, Matthew Polenzani and Christine Goerke.

Watch a live video stream on this page at 1pm ET.
