Overview

We the Commuters comes to you live-in-studio with a night of news you can use, Missed Connection Theatre and performances by some incredible street-level talent.

Up for discussion: Biking (and bicyclists’ safety), Citi Bike, delivery guys and more. Throughout the night there will also be bike-curious trivia, where we’ll put your bike-related knowledge to the test for some super sweet swag.

WNYC and Gothamist reporters Shumita Basu, Jake Offenhartz, Stephen Nessen and Chris Robbins host the evening with guests State Senator Zellnor Myrie; Chief Terence Monahan from the NYPDCiti Bike‘s Caroline Samponaro; bike lawyer Adam WhiteJing Wang, the filmmaker behind the documentary “A Winter With Delivery Workers“; and Shabazz Stuart, an urban transportation advocate and CEO of Oonee.

Plus, comedians Colin Burgess (Adult Swim) and Rachel Pegram (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) will be sharing real Craigslist Missed Connections, and singer-songwriter Anthony of Born Free Music Group delivers one of his incredible “Showtime!” performances.

We the Commuters began with a mission of reporting on how transit and travel in the city is (or isn’t) happening, understanding the system and its challenges and providing a platform for regular commuters to be heard.

Get need-to-know updates, share a drink with your fellow commuters and go behind the seeming black box that is our expansive transit system. And of course, you can follow We the Commuters on Twitter and subscribe to their newsletter here.
